On February 1st, 2024, Hasan al-Saadi, Representative of the Supreme Council for Youth in the Iraqi Government, and Iraqi Prime Minister H.E. Mohamed Shia al-Sudani’s youth affairs representative visited the He was warmly welcomed by  President Prof. Dr. Keith Sharp and Vice President Prof. Dr. Dana Mawlood.

AIU President expressed his happiness for this visit and said that AIU looks forward to building long-term relations with universities and government bodies in the rest of Iraq. He also shed the light on areas where can contribute to the success of H.E. Muhammad Shia Alu Sudani’s vision for the government, in scientific fields and in areas related to youth, digital transformation and women empowerment.

Mr. Hasan voiced his excitement to see how a special status public university functions and promotes newly emerged areas which are highly in demand, such as artificial intelligence, cyber security, games development, digital media, as well as actions in promoting women empowerment and entrepreneurship among the youth.

Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation to foster further agreements between  and other institutions in the rest of Iraq

The delegation made a tour inside the campus and the new facilities built recently and met with students and staff. In the meetings, the Board of Governors discussed AIU vision for the future, expansion of the university and broadening its programmes and engagement with local and international institutions.

They also heard from students and staff about their opinions on how to improve the university and its quality.

Korean Consul General Seungcheol Lim visited UKH today and was warmly received by UKH President and Vice President Prof. Dr. Keith Sharp and Prof. Dr. Dana Mawlood, respectively.

Both sides discussed the value of comparative studies of the economics of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and South Korea.

Prof. Sharp expressed AIU interest and motivation in developing bilateral relations with Korean universities especially in the field of economics and financial sciences.

International cooperation was another topic discussed as UKH is broadening its mutual understandings and partnerships with prominent international universities.
